Michael Laudrup says that they risk losing Michu for up to 3 months as he may have surgery on his ankle
Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup says that they risk losing Michu for up to 3 months as he may have surgery on his ankle.
Laudrup says that they are considering surgery for the 27 year-old as he has only managed to play at 80% fitness levels this season.
That’s the main reason why he hasn’t been able to hit the heights of last year, when he scored 22 goals in all competitions.
Despite the setback during the current campaign, he has still managed to net 6 goals, with 4 coming in the Europa League.
Michu is a major doubt for Sunday’s home game against Everton, and Laudrup revealed possible surgery plans for their most valuable player:
“Michu will need an operation at some stage and we are getting opinions from the doctors right now.
“His ankle gets inflamed and it hurts. He hasn`t trained for two days. He played at Norwich on Sunday, we were off Monday and Tuesday, he trained on Wednesday, but it hurt on Thursday – even walking.
“So it`s not a case of if, it`s when. There are two kinds of operation and we still need some information before we decide. But it`s a decision for the player, not the manager. The worst case is three months.”
