Kenny Jackett has told left winger, Kevin McLeod that he is free to join Championship club Colchester United.

After travelling up with the squad to Leyton Orient on Saturday, and not even being included in the 16-man squad, Jackett has told the former QPR winger than first opportunities will be limited as players start returning from injury.

If he does move, no fee will be involved as Colchester will take over his contract.

Chairman Huw Jenkins said: ”We have had an enquiry from Colchester and as always we have made the player aware,”

”Kenny has had a chat with Kevin and made him aware that when everybody is back fit, he will only have limited opportunities.

”It’s all happened very quickly and it’s now up to Kevin to decide what he wants to do.”

I honestly don’t think he’s going because he’ll have a lack of first team opportunities. When on form, he’s clearly our best left winger at the club but we can’t keep a player who’s inconsistent. Several things have happened with him off the pitch and it’s no surprise really that he looks likely to be leaving.

He was placed on the transfer list in March after Jackett claimed his application wasn’t matching his ability.

Vital Swansea were informed over the Summer than McLeod has been free to move over the last few months and had apparantly been placed back on the transfer list recently.
