Reading boss Brian McDermott said his side should have won the game as they 1-0 at Swansea City yesterday.

The Royals, who were 8 games unbeaten before the game, were punished for a host of missed chances as Pratley’s 65th-minute striker was enough to give the Swans all three points.

McDermott said:

‘It’s very, very disappointing. It was a game we never deserved to lose, in fact I felt we should have won it – we had opportunities to win it and we couldn’t take them.

‘The goal they scored was a disappointing one from our point of view – they got someone in round the back, but the ball has ricocheted straight to one of their players when it could have gone anywhere.

‘We were chasing the game at the end and they could have scored another one, but over the 90 minutes the clear cut chances came our way.

‘In football the first goal is really, really important and today Swansea managed to get it. We weren’t ruthless enough when chances came our way and that cost us.

‘What we asked the players to do, they did. We worked Swansea hard and they are a frustrating team to play against. But we just couldn’t get that goal.

‘Swansea are second in the table now and we came here and deserved a result. So we don’t fear anybody.’
