Reading boss Brian McDermott said he couldn’t fault his players’ effort in yesterday’s game, but admitted his side were lacking something as they lost the game 1-0.

Scott Sinclair continued his superb goalscoring form as his first-half strike was enough to give the Swans all three points.

Swansea City threw away a number of chances early in the second half to extend their lead, but thankfully they didn’t cost us the win as we managed to hold on.

McDermott said:

‘For the first half an hour there was nothing in the game but then they got the goal which made a lot of difference to them. They had a lot of opportunities and Adam Federici had to make a good save.

‘In the first half there was nothing in the game but once you get that first goal it makes such a difference.

‘I couldn’t fault our players for effort today. They always keep going right to the death but we lacked something today.’

‘Brendan got a good reception and I was really pleased. It was right because he served the club well. He seems happy to be there (Swansea) and it’s working for him.

‘I just said hello to him before the match but couldn’t have a drink afterwards. The drug testers were using my room so I can’t even get changed. It’s been that sort of day.’
