Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez has echoed the words of his captain Garry Monk by asking the Jack Army to create another white hot atmosphere against Cardiff.

The Carling Cup tie earlier in the year was marred by trouble and whilst Martinez is keen to avoid more such instances, he wants the same passionate support from the terraces.

Speaking to the Evening Post, El Gaffer said:

‘Violence and big derbies don’t go together.’

‘You look at the passion we have got on the pitch it is enough, and violence is something you don’t need.’

‘We know we can count on our fans getting behind us.’

‘We have to make sure we continue our home form in this campaign, which is important. That is down to the atmosphere the fans have created. They play a big role.’

‘We had big occasions against Leeds and Wolves ? they are stand-out games in terms of atmosphere, but nothing like the Carling Cup third round.’

‘That will stand out in fans’ minds forever. You could feel that old Vetch Field roar. That is a great thing to have. We are looking forward to a repeat of that.’
