The Glasgow Evening Times are today reporting that Roberto Martinez is interested in having talks about a possible switch to Celtic.

“Jones and the backroom staff will want to go with him, it will be a massive upheaval.”

It’s the first time the Spaniard has been quoted on the matter, following yesterday’s confirmation from chairman Huw Jenkins that the SPL side have made an official approach to the Swans about the Swansea manager.

The newspaper say that they expect Martinez to at least ask Swansea for permission to have talks with Celtic chairman Peter Lawwell.

While every Swans fan was hoping he’d come out and say he was fully committed to his job at the Liberty Stadium, The 35 year-old said:

‘Managing Celtic is one of the top jobs in European football.

‘Any young aspiring manager with ambition would be interested in a job like that.

‘It gives you the chance of being involved in Champions League football and the opportunity of silverware every season.’

‘I have an agreement in place with the Swansea chairman as to what would happen and I’d want that to be honoured.’

It seems slightly strange that Roberto has briefly spoken to the Scottish press while in Ibiza but nothing has been said to the likes of the Evening Post, who are also eager to hear his views on the matter.

Things aren’t looking good for us though, as if these comments are true, it seems that Roberto is keen on the job and looks set to have talks at least about potentially taking over as manager at Celtic Park.
