Former Swan Roberto Martinez has been tipped as the favourite to replace Kenny Jackett as manager.

The 33 year-old, now playing at League 2 side Chester, is strongly being rumoured to be returning to take charge of his former club.

Chairman Huw Jenkins says they haven’t begun discussing who would take charge after Jackett’s departure.

He said: ‘Kevin is our caretaker manager and we’ll see what happens over the next few days,”

”No doubt speculation will grow as to who may or may not be considered for the job.

”We will draw up a shortlist of candidates and Kevin will be one of them, but we have got no-one in mind. In fact we’re very open-minded.

”The club has moved forward a lot in recent times and I’ll be very surprised if we do not have a lot of good candidates.

”Initially we’ll just see who applies. We’ll see what develops and talk it through.”

Jenkins said they’ll be in no rush to bring a new man in and he added;: ”There are a few ways to look at it,”

”Bringing someone in who doesn’t know the players that well, for instance, could be the wrong thing to do.

”We’re going to be cautious and it’s going to be a case of taking one step at a time.’

I personally would like to see us bring in a manager who has plenty of experience and passion. I think Jackett was too much of a ‘nice guy’ who didn’t show enough emotion on the sidelines.
