“Why don’t we just ask if we can have a free kick outside the box, stand more chance.”

Leon Britton, Andy Robinson (2) and Darren Pratley have all missed spot kicks this season while there have 4 successful pens, Robinson, Feeney and Scotland (2).

Pratley missed his kick on Tuesday against Walsall has Scotland had gone off to be replaced by Guillem Bauza.

Roberto Martinez told the Evening Post:

‘We can’t score penalties and we can’t stop them,’ boss Roberto Martinez conceded, ‘and I think it’s quite clear that from now on, Jason is our penalty-taker with Bussy (Guillem Bauza) backing him up.

‘I think it will be a long time before Leon, Robbo or Prats step up to the spot.’

‘You should score 95 per cent of penalties, At the moment, our return is quite low.’

Sometimes there can be a bit of a cloud when a couple are missed,’

‘We have competitions in training and everybody scores, but there is extra pressure out on the pitch, especially after some misses.

‘Most teams jump around when they get a penalty, but in our dressing room we’ll be relieved not to get one soon.’
