Swansea City Manager Roberto Martinez has issued Striker Lee Trundle a vote of confidence.

This comes in the wake of a failed bid by Bristol City to sign Swansea’s talisman striker last week.

Bristol City were keen to add the influential striker to their forward line after injury to their Striker Steve Brooker.

Martinez told The South Wales Evening Post:

”It’s good for the profile of Swansea City and it’s good for Lee’s profile too.

It makes me feel proud when any other club looks at one of my players and Swansea City should be proud too.

The fantastic thing is that we are in a strong position where the board of directors can say no.

That in turn shows Trunds how much we want him and what a big player he is for this club.’.’

To capture Trundle Bristol City would have had to pay in excess of £1 million pounds plus significant add ons. The Aston Gate based outfit were well short of that.

It is thought that they only offered in the region of £650,000 which was always going to be rejected by the club.
