Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez praised youngster Shaun MacDonald after scoring both goals in last night’s Carling Cup first round win at home to Brentford.
The Wales under-21 international netted either side of half time and boss Martinez was thrilled with his performance, he told the Evening Post:
|”All the players will tell you that if the fans could pay to watch Shaun training they would,” |
”The quality he has got is immense and it’s great to see him use that to produce two great finishes.
”Shaun has got all the attributes to be an important player, not just in the Championship but at the highest level.
”It’s just down to him to make sure his body allows him to express himself.
”He has struggled in the past with growing pains, but he has had a great pre-season and everyone is starting to see the results. He has not missed training in seven months and he is one of four wide players we have who all have as much as any other to play a part this season.”
MacDonald has also received praise from Wales under-21 boss and former Swansea manager Brian Flynn. Both Flynn and Wales senior boss John Toshack are expecting big things in the future from both Shaun and fellow Swan Joe Allen.
