Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez has said he will be making use of the January transfer window to strengthen his squad.

Martinez has lost Ferrie Bodde and Marcos Painter to season ending injuries, and the Spaniard has said he will look to bring in fresh faces.

However, Martinez has revealed that he is not able to afford the sort of player that he would ideally like to bring in.

He told BBC Sport:

‘Players who can bring unpredictability in the last third cost a lot of money.’

‘We can’t really go and buy them, that’s the situation.’

‘I’m delighted with the squad,’ said Martinez.

‘I’ve got many other options that we can freshen things up and we need to find the solutions within the football club at the moment.’

‘If we can, we will bring people in, or do it from within the squad.

‘Obviously we’ve lost a few players long-term through injuries and we always work in a way that if we can improve the squad we will do that.’

Potential loan targets are rumoured to be Reading’s Leroy Lita and Manchester United’s Lee Martin.
