One of the discussions on the forum today has been about what the new manager Bob Bradley has to change to ensure that results improve at Swansea City.

There was a lot of criticism of former boss Francesco Guidolin, mainly about his team selections, use of too many formations, a lack of consistency and balance within the team just to name a few.

So therefore, what does Bradley have to change to improve our performances and results. Guidolin actually left with his team playing quite well, but there was still something missing. They simply didn’t quite have the knack of seeing games through. We’re not solid enough for 90 minutes and other, stronger sides would have been able to have beaten Liverpool having gone a goal in front, and limiting them to no shots on target in the first half.

The late penalty was unfortunate for Guidolin and his players, but Liverpool were wasteful before Milner’s late spot kick. Even if we had got a point out of the game, you had the feeling that the Italian was still going to be sacked.

If there’s one thing we hope doesn’t change is the team’s effort and high pressing that they’ve shown against two quality sides recently. The pressing played a vital role in limiting Manchester City and Liverpool against us. We were solid against Manchester City for around an hour, but again, a penalty allowed them to eventually to win the game by what looked like a comfortable margin. The game was closer though, and they took that performance into the Liverpool game, but again, a penalty cost them a point.

What needs to change though, and what was discussed in the forum here is the need to understand a preferred style and system, a consistent starting eleven and better attacking balance.

Sounds like he is going to rely on Curt quite a bit, mentioning him as a ‘Big Brother’ in all this. That being the case I would imagine seeing a 4-3-3 and perhaps even a Diamond much like we saw last year after Monk’s dismissal. It will be interesting to see how this will all play out for sure.

I think the first thing Bradley needs to do is instill some form of attacking balance back into the team. Guidolin’s main weakness in my mind was his persistence in using unbalanced formations; either 1 winger formations or playing Gylfi out of position out wide.
