Roberto Martinez will engage in another exhaustive effort to bring in new signings from the continent this week as he heads for the mainland Europe.

Last summer the Spaniard unearthed the likes of Guillem Bauza signed from Espanyol B, Angel Rangel from Terrassa FC,Andrea Orlandi from Deportivo Alav├ęs and secured the permanent capture of long term transfer target Ferrie Bodde from Ado Den Hagg. Vastly successful in the European transfer market Martinez will be hoping to secure the vital back up to the squad,in order to compete in the Championship over the course of the summer.

Whilst in search for cut price talent on the continent, Martinez has refused to rule out the possibility of signing British based players, despite declaring that he believes that the UK transfer market is hugely inflated.

Strengthening for next seasons campaign , every area of the squad will be strengthen from defence to adding to the strike force. Martinez has declared that that everything will be in place in and around 27th June.

Martinez Told The SWEP:

“we will definitely go into the Continental market. If we want to be successful in the Championship, we have to do it.”

‘As the boys we brought over last year have showed, there are great professionals available in Europe who are prepared to give everything for Swansea City. They have a fantastic attitude and bring something different to our squad. We have probably got four or five players in mind for each position. We are well advanced with a number of them, but it`s important to know about players` personalities as well as their abilities.”

‘That can take a little more time, but everything will be ready for June 27.We`re looking at British players as well because we have to”

There are certain positions where the players need to know the British game inside out ? they need to have a certain number of British-tempo games under their belt. Then there are positions where you can get a fresher approach from the Continent, so it`s about finding the right balance.’

Stockport County’s highly rated defender Ashley Williams is also set to sign a permanent deal after his loan spell last season.
