Roberto Martinez admits that their chances of signing Jordi Gomez are slim, as they can’t compete financially with their competitors.
The Espanyol midfielder impressed immensely during his season-long loan last season and the Swans boss is keen to keep him at the Liberty Stadium.

Gomez says he would like to stay at Swansea but that’s proving difficult as we can’t compete financially with clubs like Newcastle and Middlesbrough who are also interested in signing him.
Roberto Martinez said:
‘Jordi is going to be a difficult one,’
‘We are talking about a player who has grown massively in the last season and his valuation has gone through the roof.
‘There is a lot of interest in him and he is going to have a lot of options which are financially miles better than what we can offer him.
‘If he was going to make a football decision, 100 per cent he would stay with us for the long term.
‘Unfortunately, in the modern game I don’t think it’s going to be as straightforward as that.’
