The Evening Post report that Roberto Martinez has contacted them to deny quotes that appeared in the Glasgow Evening Times.

The Scottish newspaper had quotes that Martinez told them:

‘Managing Celtic is one of the top jobs in European football,’

‘Any young aspiring manager with ambition would be interested in a job like that.

‘It gives you the chance of being involved in Champions League football and the opportunity of silverware every season.”

These quotes appear to have been made up as the Spaniard sent a text message to the Evening Post to make aware that he hasn’t spoken to any press while he’s been away in Ibiza.

He also told BBC Sport briefly:

“The quotes are false, I didn’t speak with anyone.

“The only person who can speak about the situation is my chairman.”

The 35 year-old returns home today and will have talks with chairman Huw Jenkins regarding his future with the club.
