Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez says he understands how special the Cardiff City match will be to the fans when they meet in the Carling Cup third round in September.
Whereas we’ve had crowds half of what we’d expect in the League, this Cup game should definitely be a sell out and fans will have to buy their tickets early to avoid missing out.
Apart from the FAW Premier Cup, Swansea haven’t faced their bitter rivals Cardiff for 9 years, the game back in 1999 ended in a 0-0 draw.
The League table this season is looking healthy for Swans fans so far, we sit in 7th place, above The Bluebirds who are 12th.
Roberto Martinez understands the importance that Swansea win the match, and he told the Evening Post:
|‘Everything we do is for the fans and I understand what it means to them,’|
‘It’s special for them and we will treat it the way they want us to.
‘But to us it’s the third round of the Carling Cup, which is a game we would want to win whoever we were playing.’
The tie will be played on the week commencing 22nd of September.
