Roberto Martinez said yesterday was his team’s best performance of the season as we beat Doncaster 3-1 at the Liberty Stadium.

Jason Scotland cancelled out Coppinger’s 11th minute opener from the penalty spot as Alan Tate was brought down in the area.

Jordi Gomez then struck a superb second half brace to give us all 3 points, as we bounced back brilliantly following Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat away at Watford.

While the performance didn’t meet the high quality flowing passing football we saw last week in the FA Cup against Fulham, Martinez says we had all the ingredients required to beat the League’s most in-form side, he told Wales Online:

“We saw plenty of character and without a doubt that was our best performance of the season.

“We`ve been more stylish this season, but in terms of what was needed after Watford we showed all the ingredients that were missing on Tuesday.

“This was one of our toughest games of the season against a side full of confidence after their run and fantastic in their movement. But to come back and score three fantastic goals and be worthy winners was the best performance of the season.”
