Swansea City fans appear to be happy with the appointment of Graham Potter as our new manager, who was officially unveiled today at our Fairwood training base.

His appointment had been expected for the past two weeks or so but it was delayed due to various complications, mainly his family holiday in New York and the need for the Swans to agree on a compensation package with his former club Ostersunds.

According to our Twitter poll from around a week ago, the majority are in favour of Potter, who signed a three-year contract today.

A large majority of 64% voted that it’s a ‘superb appointment’, with only 5% voting “Who!?”. 19% voted that the ‘jury is still out’, but hopefully it won’t take too long to convince them that he’s the right man to rebuild us and restore our attractive style of play.

He’s certainly been saying all the right things in his first interview since putting pen to paper, but there’s saying the right things and having the actions to back them up.

Potter definitely has the credentials to deliver what’s been asked of him – results along with a “Swansea Way” of playing. He’s looking to deliver a team for the fans to be proud of, one that plays to win, not simply trying not to lose:

“All the times I’ve experienced Swansea City over the years, especially when they were successful, there’s not only been a clear playing style but also a feeling of togetherness at the club.

“The ‘Swansea Way’ was also about creating an identity where people felt they could go into any game and win. That was the mind-set.

“So, long-term it’s about building a sustainable club that people are proud of and that can function at the highest level for as long as possible.

“I know the supporters will get behind the team – they always have here.

“We are not miracle workers, just down to earth people that will try hard to create something people will be proud of.’
