Goalkeeper Yves Mackalambay has apparently left Swansea City having not been offered a new deal at the club.

His current contract expired this Summer and according to local reports, the Belgian has not been offered a new deal to stay on at the Liberty Stadium.

With David Cornell set to go out on loan next season to get more first team experience, Brendan Rodgers only has one senior goalkeeper available as yet – new Summer signing Jose Moreira, and he’s going to step up his search this week for another shot-stopper.

Nottingham Forest’s number 1 goalkeeper Lee Camp has been linked with a £1m from the Swans, but Brendan Rodgers wasn’t willing to confirm these reports. The Irishman is also looking at German trialist Thorsten Stuckmann, who featured in Saturday’s 1-0 friendly defeat against Neath.

Brendan Rodgers told Swansea Sound that he hopes to sign another goalkeeper before they travel to a training camp in Austria next weekend:

‘I would like, if possible, to have something in place before next weekend – that would be ideal.’

‘You see how we play, it’s important that we get the right keeper. Someone that can fit into our style and our system.’

‘There are many good goalkeepers our there but there are very few who going to be able to come in and play with us.’

‘But we’re very confident that the one we do get will certainly help and provoke the team to continue to play how we do.’
