Shaun MacDoanld is hoping his contribution in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Cardiff City will lead to more opportunities in the Swansea first team.

MacDonald sent in the corner for Gorka Pintado’s stunning volley after they had both come on as substitutes.

And the local lad, who is a regular in the Wales under 21’s side, is hoping he can get more chances to impress manager Roberto Martinez.

The ginger winger told the Western Mail:

‘I’ve always dreamt about playing against Cardiff it is something Ive wanted to do since I was a kid.’

‘I was a bit nervous, but I didnt want to waste my opportunity.’

‘I really respect the gaffer for taking a chance and putting me on the bench. It shows he has confidence in me.’

‘Now it’s up to me to prove I’m good enough to remain involved.’

‘I always believe in myself. And, whenever the gaffer does give me a chance, I always give 100 per cent.’

‘Hopefully I did enough against Cardiff to earn myself a few more opportunities so I can get a bit more game time.’

MacDonald’s next chance to show what he can do could come against Bristol City on Saturday.
