The Middlesbrough striker is expected to meet with manager Brendan Rodgers and chairman Huw Jenkins next week following their return from Austria to undergo a medical and put pen to paper on a three-year deal.
Both are delighted with the news and Jenkins told the Official Site:
“Myself and Brendan (Rodgers) are delighted to come to an agreement with Leroy,”
“As I have said previously, Leroy was one of the manager’s main targets when he arrived in Swansea a year ago.”
Swansea City agreed a £1.75m fee with Championship side Middlesbrough for the 26 year-old frontman, but the news doesn’t seem to have excited many fans ahead of the new Premier League season, which kicks off in just over a fortnight.
Lita started his professional career at Bristol City, where he scored 31 goals in 44 starts before a £1m switch to Reading in 2005. He was part of the Reading side that won promotion to the Premier League in the 2005-06 season.
In 2009 he joined his current club Middlesbrough on a free transfer, netting 20 goals in 51 appearances.
