Shefki Kuqi has left Swansea City to join Derby County on loan until December 15th 2010.

The departure of the striker means Brendan Rodgers has just one striker available as Gorka Pintado and Craig Beattie are both injured, but the Swans manager has been told to release and loan players out in order to strengthen the squad.

Rodgers’ priority for a number of weeks now has been to sign a striker or two and he also been looking at players in other positions – with Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury a loan target – but a move has been delayed after he picked up a groin injury.

Kuqi will be hoping to get more first team action at Derby County and he’ll be available to play tomorrow against Hull City.

County boss Nigel Clough said:

‘Shefki has been a potent threat against us in the past, and now we hope he can do exactly the same in a Derby County shirt,’

‘He will give us a presence in attack; he is big, strong and has been a goalscorer wherever he has been.’

Kuqi’s absence for the next three months means Rodgers has just one striker available at present, but hopefully he can sign a striker soon to add more cover and quality up front.
