Ki Sung Yeung’s management agency has dismissed reports suggesting that the midfielder has held talks with Aston Villa

Ki Sung Yeung’s management agency has dismissed reports suggesting that the midfielder has held talks with Aston Villa about a possible move to Villa Park.

Reports this week suggested he had held talks with Villa, but instead, Swansea City are keen to secure him on a new long-term contract.

He was out of favour with former manager Michael Laudrup and was loaned out to Sunderland last season. Local reports in the North East believe that Black Cats manager Gus Poyet is not so keen on making the loan move permanent any more due to his drop in form in the final few months of the season.

A spokesperson for Ki’s agency said:

‘We have not heard from Aston Villa about signing Ki. He will return to Swansea (after his break in Korea),’

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins confirmed that the club are interested in Ki staying at the Liberty Stadium:

‘We want him to come back after his break and sit down with Garry (Monk) for a chat,’

‘Garry has spoken to him already, but it’s important that they have another chat and we will decide on where we go after that. Ideally, we would like to tie Ki up on a long-term contract. There’s no hiding from that.’
