Huw Jenkins said he was very shocked and saddened following the sudden passing of striker Besian Idrizaj this week.

The Swansea City said his death puts football into perspective, and that talk of promotion and relegation means nothing when something so tragic like this happens.

‘People are always talking about promotion and relegation, but when something like this happens, it hits home that all that means nothing,’

‘It’s a complete shock to us all.

‘For someone so young to lose his life really puts things into perspective. It’s very, very sad.’

‘We are in the dark at the moment because we don’t know exactly what’s happened,’

‘Besian had all the relevant cardiac tests before he joined us, and it’s just a tragedy that a young boy who had his whole life in front of him is no longer with us.

‘As a football club you see players starting out as teenagers and then leaving you at somewhere around the age of 35, and even then they have their lives ahead of them.

‘To lose a promising player like Besian at just 22 is shocking and our thoughts are with his family.’

As a mark of respect to Besian Idrizaj, Vital Swansea will soon feature a new banner, and forum signatures and avatars for our members to show their respect for the Austrian.
