Swansea City chairman has cooled the latest rumours suggesting that QPR have made a £2.6m bid for Ashley Williams.

Speculation has circulated on twitter and various Message Forums since last night that QPR, promoted to the Premier League this season along with the Swans submitted a £2.6m bid for the defender yesterday evening.

Huw Jenkins has quickly responded to the rumours and insists they haven’t received any offers for the Welsh international:

‘We haven’t had any bids for Ashley Williams. We’re not selling Ashley Williams,’

‘I think we mustn’t forget really that there’s a lot of speculation about players like Neil Taylor, Ashley or a few others.

‘Agents in this day and age do, rightly or wrongly, get things out in the press, maybe a negotiation tactic to get more wages, bigger contracts – it’s just part and parcel of the Championship and now the Premier League.’

Ashley Williams is surely going to be targeted again this Summer by Premiership clubs after yet another impressive and consistent season for the Swans in the Championship.
