Swansea City Chairman Huw Jenkins is expected to meet with Roberto Martinez in the next 24 hours to discuss the future of a number of players including out of contract midfielder Andy Robinson.
Talks between the club and Robinson’s agent Neil Sang have seemingly broken down over the remuneration package on offer from the Liberty Stadium club. Currently the highest paid member of the promotion winning squad the scoucer has hinted a decision will be made on Monday. This despite a 10 day deadline put on the former Tranmere Rovers player by Roberto Martinez, to decide his future.
Speculation has been growing over a move to Leeds United but there have been no firm indications from the Yorkshire club that a deal has been reached for the winger. Robinson has made 157 appearances and has scored 42 goals in his Swansea career to date.
Chairman Huw Jenkins has also been left reeling by Robinson’s comments this week and has hinted any player not wishing to be part of next seasons Championship campaign that could be in for a difficult road ahead.
Jenkins Told The SWEP:
I have not spoken to Roberto about it yet,Roberto is back from Spain today and I will talk to him about the matter.I have a number of things to discuss with Roberto today, and Andy is one of many topics.”
‘I was a little surprised to read Andy saying what he did in the Evening Post. I thought Roberto and Andy were going to meet this week and talk about it.If a player does not want to be a part of this club then that is up to them.”
‘Roberto obviously wants Andy to stay – that is why we have made him one of the biggest offers in the club’s history.’
In other transfer news Derby County are still confident of signing Ferrie Bodde but a £700,000+ bid has been rejected out of hand by Huw Jenkins.
