We profile striker James Thomas in ‘Where are they now?’

His Time At Swansea

James Thomas started out as a trainee with Blackburn Rovers and had loan spells with West Brom, Blackpool, Sheffield United and Bristol Rovers.

He joined his hometown club in the summer of 2002 and spent 3 years at the Vetch.

His hat-trick on the final day of the 2002/03 season kept us in the Football League and became an instant hero with the fans. He capped off his two penalties in that game against Hull with a superb lob from 25 yards, that took his goals tally that season to 15.

The following season he only played 22 games. Flynn experimented with playing him out on the left wing and he went through a goal-drought lasting nearly 5 months.

In his final season he played just 2 games with Lee Trundle being the favourable striker and unfortunately he never returned to the player he first was when he arrived. A bad injury then forced him to leave which nearly forced him to retire.

Where Is He Now?

There was good news in 2006 however as the striker returned to football after a long layoff and joined League of Wales side Llanelli AFC. Hes coming back slowly and has so far made 3 substitute appearances.
