Midfielder Ryan Harley has completed a move to Championship side Brighton having not played a game for Swansea City.

"Harley was quoted as saying that he thought he was the best midfielder at the club which would not have gone down well with his new team mates."

The former Exeter City player joined the Swans in January before returning to Exeter on loan for the remainder of the season.

He returned in the Summer and joined the squad for pre-season training but with first team opportunities limited at the newly-promoted Premiership side, he decided to join the Seagulls to get regular football.

It’s been mentioned previously that Rodgers bought Harley early this year with the Championship in mind, but following our promotion, it was unlikely that he’d feature regularly in the starting 11.

Harley said:

‘I was on the verge of coming here in January and maybe I should have done that,’

‘I’m really excited, I was keen to come knowing that [Brighton boss] Gus Poyet has always liked me.

‘The type of football Brighton play should suit me. I like to get forward, get on the ball, create and score goals. That’s what I’ve come here to do.’

‘The manager at Swansea had his team set early on in pre-season,’

‘I didn’t want to wait around for a chance that might take a while to come.

‘I’m keen to play. There’s a good squad here at Brighton. I watched the game against Cardiff and I was really impressed. That made my mind up that I wanted to come here.’
