The search for a new Goalkeeper starts in earnest. This comes after the news that unsettled French keeper Willy Gueret is set to sign for MK Dons Tomorrow.
The former Le Mans keeper had been on loan/trial with the Leauge Two side after being out performed from the no1 shirt by new signing Dorus De Vries.
Gueret had vowed to fight for his place after the Dutchman had signed for the club.
On The 26th July on the Official Site:
|‘Hopefully I’ve still got three years ahead of me, but right now I need to play first-team football.’|
Dorus is a good goalkeeper, but Andy Oakes was too and so to Brian Murphy before him as well. If I keep working the way I am at the moment, I can’t see why I will not be in theteam. I hope I will be because I want to stay at Swansea. I love the club and I love the people around it. I don’t want to sit on the bench for a season, but right now I’m just keeping my head down and working to keep the spot.’
Despite his intentions during pre season De Vries has outclassed the Frenchman and has showed not only that he can command his defence but his kicking , out of hand play and shot stopping are far superior to Gueret.
Huw Jenkins spoke out about the move of Gueret and also the time-scale of the transfer.
Chairman Huw Jenkins
Told The Evening Post :
| ‘We fully expect Willy to complete his move to MK Dons on Thursday.’|
Obviously that will leave us with only one goalkeeper, and Roberto (Martinez) and Kevin (Reeves) are working hard to bring someone else in as soon as they can. They have got a few options on that score, so we’ll have to see what happens.’
MK Dons had made a bid for Gueret’s services last season in the region of £100,000 which the club rejected.
Gueret will move to his new club on a nominal fee tomorrow.
