New Summer signing Mark Gower says he is desperate to score his first goal for Swansea City.

The winger went agonisingly close on Tuesday night with a powerful long range shot that struck the post.

On a few occasions Gower has cut inside from the right to get a shot at goal but he says his first goal with relieve the pressure and boost his confidence, he told BBC Sport:

‘In the format we play, the onus is on myself, Tom Butler and Jason Scotland to score,’

‘I’m doing the right things, I’ve hit the woodwork a couple of times, but I could do with a bit of luck and I feel that I need that goal for confidence.

‘I still think playing with one up front suits us, we’ve dominated teams.’

‘We’ve had a decent start in the league, we’ve been on top of most teams,’

‘We’re 10th in the league and two points off the play-off positions.

‘The formation we play with a lone striker helped the club dominate League One last season and we’ve been on top of most sides this year.

‘I feel that I’ve settled into the team team well, we had a good, long, pre-season – but I need that goal to take pressure off myself!’

Gower also said he felt he should be contributing more to the team in terms of goals because he plays high up the pitch.

He scored 10 goals in the Championship for Southend United in the 2006/07 season and he’ll be hoping to get into double figures this year as well.
