Mark Gower says new loan signing Fabio Borini has been a ‘breath of fresh air’ after scoring 2 goals on his debut against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The midfielder has praised the young Italian striker for giving the squad a boost as they look forward to an exciting finish to what has been an excellent season so far.

Gower praised Borini’s performance on Saturday:

‘I thought he was a breath of fresh air,’

‘He came into the game with no inhibitions. He hasn’t played against the likes of (Wes) Morgan before, while the other lads have. He didn’t know what to expect and that’s what you get from a youngster.

‘He didn’t care how fast they were or how good they were, he just played his normal game.

‘He had no respect for anyone and he could have had a hat-trick on his debut.’

‘Hopefully for us he will get better, but whatever happens we’ve got three good strikers on the books at the moment.

‘A new face can give the whole squad a lift and I think he’s done that and we’re looking forward to the next game. He came in and he was lively and bright from day one.

‘You wouldn’t think he was 19. He’s confident, strong, quick and he’s technically gifted so he’ll fit right in here.’
