Good news for Swansea City fans as Garry Monk has confirmed that winger Jefferson Montero’s injury is ‘nothing serious’

Good news for Swansea City fans as Garry Monk has confirmed that winger Jefferson Montero’s injury is ‘nothing serious’.

Montero was a surprising omission from Sunday’s matchday squad that beat Manchester United 2-1, as there was no news of an injury earlier in the week.

The Ecuadorian has been in stunning form so far this season, helping his team get off to a great start so far this season, and it was disappointing not to see his name on the scoresheet on Sunday afternoon.

Fortunately though, Monk has confirmed the injury is nothing serious, and that he pulled up in training on Saturday.

The international break has I suppose come at a good time for the winger as he should be fully fit when the Swans are back in action at Watford in little under a fortnight’s time.

‘Unfortunately Jeff pulled up in training yesterday,’

‘Just a bit of soreness in the quad area.

‘He had a scan, there was nothing clinical so that’s good news.

‘We’ll re-scan him just to make sure in a few days’ time, but it was more soreness and tightness.

‘Jeff’s a very explosive player, so you’ve got to be very careful in situations like that.

‘We decided it was best that we didn’t involve him today and risk him being out for a long period.’
