Reports are emerging this evening that Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis is set to join Galatasaray.

The Frenchman was on a season-long loan at Ligue 1 outfit Marseille last year, but despite declaring an interest in making the move permanent, it appears Turkish side Galatasaray have acted quicker and are at the front of the queue to secure the striker’s services.

Gomis struggled with the Swans, and could never earn a regular place in the starting line-up, due to far-from-convincing performances and inconsistency, but he found his feet in his native France, scoring 20 goals in 31 League appearances.

Futbol Mercado are reporting above that he has already completed a move to Galatasaray.

Swansea City boss Paul Clement did say last month that Gomis could still have a future at the club, but it remains almost certain that our desire this Summer is to sell him on to the highest bidder.

A fee is unknown, but earlier reports suggested a figure of around £3.5m could be involved. It makes sense for all parties, Gomis has struggled in the Premier League and the Swans get one of their highest earners off the wage bill.
