On a overcast day in Brighton only a handful of Swansea fans would witness the crowning of the League One champions last season.

Tonight will mark another opportunity to savour the heroics of the title wining squad from last season. Representatives from the Football League will be present at this evening’s friendly clash against ADO Den Haag, a one off Champions Flag to Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins. The delay in awarding the League One trophy to the rightful winners caused bitter words to be exchanged and angered many Swans fans.

It all stemmed from Leeds United’s unsuccessful appeal to regain all 15 points docked by the Football League for financial irregularities. The trophy will be on display this evening as pre season draws to a close. Roberto Martinez has broadly welcomed this late gesture of goodwill and has insisted that is it always good to get some recognition for the achievements of last season which saw the club go on a 18 match unbeaten run.

Martinez Told The SWEP:

“It’s a nice touch. There was no need for them to do anything, but it’s very welcome for them to try to make up a little bit for what happened last season. It’s always nice to get some recognition and the League are giving us that now. They understand that what happened was unique and that nobody would like to see it happen again. That’s great and we hope now to have a little celebration with our supporters because that’s something we were denied in the spring.”

There are tickets still available for the game this evening against ADO Den Haag they are priced at £12 for adults and £7.00 for concessions and £4 for under 16’s. Note only the West and East stands are open for the game.
