Dorus De Vries will be looking to set the record straight against Oldham Athletic tomorrow afternoon as he looks to keep a clean sheet against The Latics.
In his first game for the club he saw his goal breached only 3 minutes into the opening game of the 2007/08 season. De Vries saw defender Alan Tate upend former Hellas Verona Striker Craig Davis in the penalty area. Michael Ricketts converted the spot kick , on 55 minutes Jason Scotland opened his account for the club after his move from St Johnstone. Deep into injury time John Sheridan’s side secured the winner with a Davis headed goal.
The Shot stopper who signed from Dunfermline Athletic has been one of the most consistent performers for the club since his free transfer and has vastly impressed The Liberty Stadium faithful.
There is a lot to smile about according to the Dutchman who has one of the best defensive records in the football league. High praise has been levelled on the keeper in recent months most recently from Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood who was impressed by his mammoth efforts in the 0-0 draw at the City Ground this week.
Mistakes have been few and far between this season for the former Den Haag star , the only incident that has blotted his report is the run in the FA Cup. His error nearly led to a 2nd round exit against Horsham only to see Swansea City rally to win 6-2.
