Swansea City have received a boost today with the news that Dorus De Vries has put to paper on a new 2-year contract with the club.

As we reported last Thursday here, The Dutchman is staying a Swan.

It looked certain that the goalkeeper was going to move on this Summer when he failed to sign a contract within a 7-day deadline.

He was looking for a move elsewhere but after talks with new manager Paulo Sousa, De Vries has decided to make a massive u-turn and stay on at the Liberty Stadium.

He also turned down the chance to return to his former club Ado Den Haag.

De Vries told the Evening Post that he is confident the club can continue to progress with the new manager:

‘Of course we can, If I didn’t think that, I wouldn’t still be here.

‘In football people come and go ? if people perform, Premier League teams come along and everyone has that ambition to play there or work there.

‘I am the same, but you have to take your time and make the right choices and I feel we play well together at Swansea.’
