Goalkeeper Dorus De Vries has given the club a boost saying he wants to stay with the Swans.

The Dutchman’s contract expires in June, allowing him to join another club on a free transfer.

De Vries told the Evening Post that he wants to extend his contract, rather than walk away from the club:

‘Of course I am happy to stay at Swansea,’

‘We have a great squad and, as a player, sometimes you need to meet certain key figures in your career.

‘I think Roberto Martinez is one of them for me.

‘I am really fortunate that two years ago he gave me a call and asked me to come and join Swansea City.

‘There was a lot of interest in me at that time because I’d had a good season up in Scotland, but I think a good choice coming to Swansea.

‘Everything has started to bloom since I came down here, for me and for the club, and Roberto Martinez has done a great job.

‘I want to continue that story – I don’t want to walk away.’
