Jonathan de Guzman has been called up to the Holland squad for their friendly in February against Italy.

The Dutchman has been rewarded for his recent performances, as the national side’s assistant manager, Danny Blind watched him net a brace in last Saturday’s 3-1 win against Stoke City.

Although he was born in Canada, de Guzman has been able to play for Holland since 2008, but has yet to be called up to play for the World Cup finalists until now.

de Guzman isn’t the only Swansea City player who has attracted the attention of their national side’s managers. Michu, Chico Flores and Angel Rangel were all watched recently by Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque and are awaiting possible call-ups.

de Guzman will join fellow Swansea team-mate and goalkeeper Michel Vorm in the Holland squad to face Italy in a friendly on February 6th.
