On-loan Swindon Town striker Simon Cox said the referee got the decision wrong to award them a late penalty in yesterday’s game.
Kristian O’Leary was adjudged to have brought the Reading player down in the penalty box but Cox told the Swindon Advertiser:
|‘I wanted the penalty, Hasney did and Billy did but it came to me and I had to do the business. It was not a penalty. I just kept it in and fell over. I think the ref tried squaring it up after missing the Hasney shout. I think if I fell over it was pretty much a penalty.’|
|‘We should have had Swindon dead and buried long before injury time ‘|
Cox’s views sums up what Swansea captain Garry Monk thought of the referee, branding him a disgrace for trying to balance out the decisions after giving Corr a red card in the first half.
Still, the Swans should have been comfortably ahead against 10 men and only have themselves to blame for not putting themselves in a comfortable lead.
