Somewhat a stranger to the Swansea City first team, Matty Collins says he is relishing the competition to keep his right back place.
After failing to make even a substitute appearance for the Swans last year, it was a quite a surprise to see him start in our opening Championship match.
He filled in at right back, getting the nod over Alan Tate to replace Angel Rangel.
When the Spaniard returns, he’ll find it tough to keep his place as Rangel was superb last season.
But Collins told the Evening Post he is relishing the challenge ahead:
|”It was good to get out there and get some minutes under my belt,”|
”Obviously I am disappointed with the result as I think we played them off the park, but personally I will take a lot from it.
”It doesn’t get much bigger than this. I relished the challenge and I will keep my head down and work hard. I will just concentrate on myself as there is competition in this squad for every position.
”I am really enjoying playing at right-back. I played there for Fulham at times and a lot of the things have come naturally. I have got full belief that I can hang on to my position.”
