Swansea City head coach Paul Clement gave an update on the future of Gylfi Sigurdsson
Swansea City head coach Paul Clement gave an update on the future of Gylfi Sigurdsson after he was left out of yet another friendly today.
While the players enjoyed a 2-0 win away at Birmingham City this afternoon, Gylfi Sigurdsson stayed home once again, as the club released a statement this morning saying that it was agreed that the midfielder wouldn’t travel due to the on-going transfer speculation.
This has frustrated Swansea fans even more, because despite still being employed by the club, he’s not taking part in any pre-season games or tours.
Clement told the Official Site that there’s no update, but he wants a resolution soon:
“There`s no update,”
“We made a decision between myself, the club and Gylfi that during this period, he wouldn`t be involved in games.
“The situation is still the same, but we want a quick resolution to this issue. We are getting to a point now where something needs to be done and done quickly.
“Otherwise he needs to stay here and play his football for Swansea.”
Are you happy that the new owners have stood firm on their £50m asking price for Sigurdsson? RT & discuss…
