Tom Carroll said he was ‘excited to be back’ as he completed a £4.5m move from Spurs today.

The central midfielder will wear the number 42 shirt – signing a contract until June 2020.

After a season-long loan at the Liberty Stadium two seasons ago, Carroll says that’ll help him to settle in:

“It`s been a couple of years since I`ve been here – there have been some changes – but I`m excited to be back,”

“It definitely helps knowing quite a few of the lads from my loan spell, while I know (assistant coach) Nigel Gibbs and (head of physical performance) Karl Halabi too.

“Knowing the players and staff allows you to settle quicker than normal. It can take time to settle in at a new club, but having some familiar faces around the place will help me get going straight away.

“I know what the club is about too, and I know the playing style suits me so that was a big factor in me coming here.”

“Just being back at the Liberty watching the game against Arsenal brought back a lot of memories, so I`m looking forward to playing in front of the fans again,” he added.
“The scoreline last Saturday was a little unfair – we didn`t deserve to lose like that, and the own goals are so cruel on us,” he added.
“But we have a good squad here and the lads have got to be positive. We know we can get a result at Liverpool.”

Tom Carroll joins Luciano Narsingh and martin Olsson as the club’s new signings in this month’s transfer window.

The Swans are still on the look out for a centre back, while Wayne Routledge is linked with a £3m move to Championship side Birmingham City.
