Wrexham Manager Brian Carey has given new loan signing Matthew Collins a confidence boost just days after the midfielder had joined the Dragons.

Carey has predicted that the former Fulham man could prove decisive as the Racecourse based outfit as they look to get off the foot of the Football League.

Collins made his dragons debut against Shrewsbury Town at the racecourse on Saturday. The deadlock was broken in the 57th minute when Shrews striker Michael Symes cooly put the ball through the legs of Anthony Williams in the Dragons goal.

Despite the 1-0 loss Carey was upbeat about his new aquistion.

He told
The Wrexham Daily Post:

“Overall, Matty showed enough to demonstrate that when he settles in he will do a good job for us.’

He was excellent in the first half, but after Shrewsbury scored we were guilty as a team of bypassing the midfield players and getting the ball forward as quickly as possible.’

It`s never easy coming into a derby game and it was difficult for him as well in terms of how the opposition played, but if we can get the ball down and play he will be fine.’
