Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce gave praise to Marcos Painter following his £50,000 move to Swansea.

The former Manchester United defender said: ‘If every young kid who walked through the door here was like Marcos Painter then this would be a far healthier place,’

‘He’s a smashing lad who has a really good attitude.

‘He’s a Birmingham lad through and through, a Blues fan, and he would have loved to become a regular here.

‘But one thing he needed was to play. I couldn’t guarantee him that and Swansea have provided that opportunity.’

The 20 year-old has impressed since joining us in November and Jackett has done well to sign him for such a small fee after the player more than less ruled out a permanent move when he first arrived.

Painter returned the compliment to his former boss and said:

I’ve got a lot of praise for Steve Bruce. He gave me my debut in the Premiership and Birmingham gave me the coaching that’s got me to where I am.

“I’m looking forward now to what’s going to happen at Swansea.

“I’ve got a great opportunity to play for a quality side.”
