Swansea City have been hit with the news that striker Wilfried Bony could be sidelined for ‘several weeks’ after suffering a hamstring injury during Thursday’s 1-0 defeat against Valencia in the Europa League.

Manager Michael Laudrup also confirmed that right back Angel Rangel will also have a scan after picking up a calf problem in the same game.

After the game, Laudrup spoke about Bony’s injury and said:

‘It could be quite a serious one,’

‘We will have to wait two or three days until we get a scan, but unfortunately I think we are talking several weeks at least.’

‘It is a blow but that’s how it is. You have to accept it and when you have a lot of games this is a possibility.

‘Let’s see what happens with Michu in the next week or so.’

With Michu also injured, Swansea are struggling for firepower as they face a very busy schedule in December.

Laudrup will now rely on loanee striker Vazquez when his side travel to face Manchester City on Sunday.
