According to Portuguese newspaper Record, Benfica have rejected Swansea City’s offer to take defender Lisandro Lopez on loan.
The 27 year-old centre back was initially linked with a £7m bid from the Swans this weekend, but it appears that we’d prefer a loan move.
Swans head coach Paul Clement is head to boost his centre back options before the transfer window closes in two days time, but the club are leaving it very late to strengthen the weakest area of the squad.
Lopez has struggled to earn himself a regular first team place at Benfica, and went on loan to Genoa during the 2014/15 season, making 27 appearances and scoring 3 goals.
The Argentinian has 4 caps for his country, and has played only 7 League games this season, but quite incredibly has scored 3 goals.
The Swans have also been linked with Aston Villa winger Jordan Ayew, brother of the former player Andre. A swap involving left back Neil Taylor, and possible Modou Barrow to as been suggested.
