In what was a well-mannered South Wales derby, by both the players and fans it seems, Cardiff City’s Craig Bellamy let himself and his side down, as he was lucky to avoid getting sent off during Saturday’s game after punching Jonathan de Guzman.

Referee Andre Marriner didn’t see the punch during the game of course, as he would have certainly sent him off if he did, but that’s not to say that the FA will look at the incident and decide to punish him for his disgraceful behaviour.

Bellamy was Cardiff’s only decent performer during a game that the Swans completely dominated, but he ruined it when he decided to raise a fist to de Guzman as he ran past him during the second half – after the Swans had taken the lead.

Such actions, which deserve nothing less than a 3-match ban, could hinder his side’s fight against relegation as he still remains one of their most influential players.
