Swansea City Striker Adebayo Akinfenwa has hinted that he maybe forced to leave the club after contract negotiations have stalled.

Bayo is one of 4 out of contract players left to sign their contract extensions. There has been huge criticisms towards the club of the offers given to Iriekpen, Bayo, Monk and O Leary.

Iriekpen has blasted the club over the 1 year deals offered and has called it an ‘Insult.’

Swansea City Striker Akinfenwa spoke to the Evening post on the contract difficulties :

”What will be will be, though negotiations with the club representatives haven’t gone the way I would have wanted…maybe ‘disrespectful’ is too strong a word to use, but I don’t feel appreciated in what has gone on, and for my own sake I have to be at a club that I know values me and will put faith in me to perform.

My heart has always been with the club, but things have soured recently so I will be deciding over the weekend whether my future is here…at the moment I really don’t know, which is a shame because for a long time I wouldn’t even have contemplated playing my football elsewhere.’

Reports have stated the striker has until tuesday to make a firm decision on his future. It is also widely thought that next week the futures of all the out of contract players will be resolved.

Swansea City Chairman Huw Jenkins in the swep on the out of contract players:

”If you are putting me on the spot, I would say that some of them might stay and some of them might go.

I suppose that just represents the way football is these days – everybody has got to make their decisions the way they see fit.

Every day we are trying to get conclusions because Roberto (Martinez) wants to push ahead and make decisions,”

“It’s an unfortunate situation and one we need resolved as quickly as possible. But at present the agents are quite naturally exercising their right to take their time to see if they can find a better deal.

Roberto and I have both stated that we feel we have made fair offers considering that we weren’t promoted last season and the position we’re in,”

It’s important now that we stick with that stance.”‘

Izzy Iriekpen has attracted interest from newly promoted Scunthorpe United and Leeds United in the past weeks and looks set to leave the club.

Kristian O Leary also looks likely to leave the club after 12 years with the club to play for League one Rivals Cheltenham Town. There is no word to where the destination of Garry Monk will eventually be.

It is an extremely frustrating situation indeed ; yes the club cannot be held to ransom over contracts nor can it afford to let talent go.

Iriekpen’s sensational salvo at the club is another in a long line of incidents at the club stretching back to last season and the 1 Year contract was fair in this case.

Bayo leaving the club would be a blow, his strength and power causes great problems for any defense, I do hope these problems can be sorted out as he is an asset to this club.

Kristian O Leary has been a solid player for this club and deserves the right to have long term security of the 3 year deal the Robins have offered him,Garry Monk’s future looks to be away from the club.

These contractual issues will be resolved come the end of next week and it looks increasingly likely that all 4 will be leaving the club.

Roberto now must be looking to secure the services of at least 3 players to cover the loss of these players. It is certainly going to be an interesting week at the club.
