Guillem Bauza is close to returning from injury and he’s looking to kick-start his Swansea City career

Guillem Bauza is close to returning from injury and he’s looking to kick-start his Swansea City career.

A knee injury has kept him out of contention for the first team this season and so far he’s only made one appearance under new boss Paulo Sousa – coming on as a substitute in the 3-0 Carling Cup win at home to Brighton.

The 23 year-old also struggled to find a regular place in the team under Roberto Martinez, but he’s scored 9 goals for the Swans in 16 league starts since joining two years ago.

Bauza told the Evening Post:

‘I am now in the final phase of my rehabilitation,’

‘The first phase of work on the knee was very important because it looked at whether the treatment was working and the knee was getting better.

‘It was four weeks of hotel, hospital, hotel, hospital. It was very boring, but I’m seeing the results and I’m happy that I did that.

‘Now it is time to recover the power in the muscle and then I want to get back onto the pitch as soon as possible with my team-mates and help Swansea to do great things this season.

‘I want to give more to Swansea than I have given in the past two years.’

Bauza could find himself playing in a new position this season Sousa regularly played him as an attacking midfielder in pre-season, rather than up front.

Bauza added:

‘I play for the team, so I’m not too bothered where the gaffer wants to put me,’

‘If he wants me up front I will try to score goals, but if he wants me working in midfield then I’ll do it.

‘I showed something to the gaffer in pre-season and I spoke to him several times, so I know what is expected of me when I return.’
