Everton defender Leighton Baines says they’ll give Swansea City respect on Wednesday night when they host Swansea City.

Everton will be looking to get back to winning ways having failed to win in the last three, while the Swans are still looking for their first away victory of the season.

Baines has praised Swansea City’s start, but he says the big test is in the second half of the season:

‘They’ve done well so far but the difficult thing can sometimes be maintaining it we’ve seen teams in the past have a good first half of the season and then tail off,’

It happened to Blackpool last year and teams have done it before so the test will be the second half for a lot of these sides.

They will come and try and play football and that allows us to be a bit more creative and makes them more a threat as well.

We’ve seen them go to some of the top sides and do really well so we’ll have to pay them respect.’

Baines also said that Everton will have to be wary of Swansea’s counter-attack threat:

‘They have got a lot of pace when they attack, and they are really dangerous when they counter attack,’

With that pace they’ve always got a chance of creating something and we’ll have to be wary of that.’
